CACMR Highlights Canada–Qatar Diplomatic Engagement During Historic Visit to Doha

The Canada‑Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) is pleased to highlight its participation in a landmark moment for Canada–Qatar relations, during the historic visit of Canada’s Prime Minister, alongside the official engagements of Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Anita Anand, to Doha, Qatar.
CACMR President, Mr. Abdullatif Al‑Shaikh, was present during this important diplomatic engagement, contributing to the broader appreciation and dialogue surrounding the visit. The mission underscored Canada’s growing commitment to deepening cooperation with Qatar and advancing shared priorities across diplomacy, economic development, and regional collaboration.
The visit also reflected the continued evolution of Canada’s international engagement under the leadership of Prime Minister Mark Carney, reinforcing Canada’s strategic presence in the Gulf region and its dedication to constructive, forward‑looking partnerships.
Throughout the visit, Mr. Al‑Shaikh engaged with distinguished leaders and partners, participating in discussions that emphasized the importance of dialogue, trust, and long‑term collaboration. These exchanges highlighted the role of relationship‑building in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering meaningful cooperation between Canada and the Middle East and North Africa region.

يسرّ الكونجرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا أن يُسلط الضوء على مشاركته في لحظة تاريخية للعلاقات الكندية القطرية، وذلك خلال الزيارة التاريخية لرئيس الوزراء الكندي، إلى جانب الزيارات الرسمية لوزيرة الخارجية الكندية، معالي أنيتا أناند، إلى الدوحة، قطر.
وقد حضر رئيس الكونجرس، السيد عبد اللطيف آل الشيخ، هذا اللقاء الدبلوماسي الهام، مساهماً في تعزيز التقدير والحوار حول الزيارة. وأكدت هذه الزيارة التزام كندا المتزايد بتعميق التعاون مع قطر ودعم الأولويات المشتركة في مجالات الدبلوماسية والتنمية الاقتصادية والتعاون الإقليمي.
كما عكست الزيارة التطور المستمر لانخراط كندا الدولي تحت قيادة رئيس الوزراء مارك كارني، مما عزز حضور كندا الاستراتيجي في منطقة الخليج والتزامها بشراكات بناءة ومستقبلية.
خلال الزيارة، التقى السيد آل الشيخ بقادة وشركاء بارزين، وشارك في مناقشات أكدت على أهمية الحوار والثقة والتعاون طويل الأمد. وأبرزت هذه اللقاءات دور بناء العلاقات في تعزيز الروابط الثنائية وتنمية التعاون المثمر بين كندا ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.

President of the Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) Attends Qatar National Day Reception in Ottawa
The Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) was honoured to attend the National Day reception of the State of Qatar, held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa.
Hosted by Ms. Alanoud Al-Otaibi, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Canada, the reception brought together ambassadors, senior government officials, diplomats, and distinguished guests from across Canada and the Arab world to commemorate Qatar’s National Day and celebrate the country’s rich heritage, unity, and achievements.
The event was notably attended by Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Anita Anand, as well as the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Minister Lena Diab, along with many other senior officials, members of Parliament, and diplomatic representatives.
Representing CACMR, President Abdullatif had the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and exchanges with ministers, ambassadors, and key stakeholders in attendance. These interactions further reinforced CACMR’s ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue, strengthening Canada–MENA relations, and advancing cooperation across diplomatic, economic, and cultural sectors.

تشرّف الكونجرس الكندي العربي بحضور حفل استقبال اليوم الوطني لدولة قطر، الذي أقيم يوم الأربعاء الموافق 10 ديسمبر 2025، في فندق ويستن بأوتاوا.
استضافت الحفل السيدة العنود العتيبي، القائمة بالأعمال في سفارة دولة قطر لدى كندا، حيث جمع الحفل سفراء وكبار المسؤولين الحكوميين والدبلوماسيين وضيوفاً مميزين من مختلف أنحاء كندا والعالم العربي، وذلك لإحياء ذكرى اليوم الوطني لدولة قطر والاحتفاء بتراثها الغني ووحدتها وإنجازاتها.
وشهد الحفل حضوراً بارزاً من وزيرة الخارجية الكندية، معالي أنيتا أناند، ووزيرة الهجرة واللاجئين والمواطنة، معالي لينا دياب، إلى جانب العديد من كبار المسؤولين وأعضاء البرلمان والممثلين الدبلوماسيين.

CACMR Board Attends UAE National Day Reception at the National Gallery of Canada
Ottawa, December 2, 2025 — The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) was honoured to attend the National Day Reception of the United Arab Emirates, held at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. The event, graciously hosted by His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Neyadi, Ambassador of the UAE to Canada, brought together diplomats, government officials, business leaders, and distinguished members of the community to celebrate the UAE’s remarkable achievements and enduring friendship with Canada.
The CACMR board was proudly represented at this prestigious gathering, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between Canada and the Arab world. The event provided an important platform for meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and the fostering of new partnerships across multiple sectors.
The reception, held in the Great Hall of the National Gallery, featured a warm welcome from the UAE Embassy and highlighted the shared values and growing cooperation between both nations. CACMR Participates as Partner in CPPF Annual Gala Marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
The Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) was honoured to attend and participate as an official partner in the CPPF Annual Gala, held in recognition of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Members of the CACMR Board were present at the event, standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people and supporting the shared mission of advancing humanitarian values, dialogue, and professional collaboration across the Middle East and North Africa region. The evening brought together community leaders, professionals, and advocates committed to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity—particularly for children, students, and vulnerable communities.
CACMR extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Tarek Khalefih for the kind invitation and for his outstanding leadership of the Canadian Palestinian Professional Foundation (CPPF). Dr. Khalefih’s dedication and tireless efforts continue to strengthen CPPF’s impact and role in mobilizing professionals in support of meaningful humanitarian and development initiatives.
The Congress also commends CPPF for organizing a thoughtful and impactful program featuring distinguished speakers who offered critical insights and firsthand perspectives. CACMR Participates in the National Day Celebration of Algeria
The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) was honoured to participate in the National Day celebration of Algeria, joining dignitaries, diplomatic representatives, and community leaders to mark this important national occasion.
Representatives of CACMR’s Board attended the reception hosted by H.E. Noureddine Sidi Abed, Ambassador of Algeria, and Mrs. Sidi Abed. The event highlighted the strong and enduring relationship between Canada and Algeria, reflecting shared priorities in advancing cooperation across political dialogue, economic development, cultural exchange, and community engagement.
During the celebration, CACMR reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with diplomatic missions from across the MENA region, supporting initiatives that promote mutual understanding, collaboration, and meaningful engagement with the Arab community in Canada.

CACMR Board Attends the Inauguration Ceremony Reception of the Grand Egyptian Museum
The Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) was honoured to be represented at a distinguished diplomatic event hosted by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
On Saturday, November 1st, 2025, members of the CACMR Board had the privilege of attending a special reception held on the occasion of the Inauguration Ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the most significant cultural landmarks in the world.
The reception was graciously hosted by His Excellency Ahmed Hafez, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, who invited Mr. Abdullatif Al-Shaikh, President of CACMR, along with members of the Board, to commemorate this historic milestone.
From 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, attendees joined diplomatic representatives, cultural leaders, and community partners to celebrate Egypt’s remarkable achievement in preserving and presenting its rich heritage. The Grand Egyptian Museum—one of the largest archaeological museums globally—stands as a testament to Egypt’s enduring contribution to human civilization.
CACMR’s participation in this event reflects the organization’s continued commitment to strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties between Canada and the Arab world, fostering collaboration, and supporting initiatives that highlight the region’s historical and cultural significance.

في يوم السبت، الموافق 1 نوفمبر 2025، حظي أعضاء مجلس إدارة الكونجرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا بشرف حضور حفل استقبال خاص أقيم بمناسبة افتتاح المتحف المصري الكبير، أحد أهم المعالم الثقافية في العالم.
استضاف الحفل بحفاوة بالغة سعادة السفير أحمد حافظ، سفير جمهورية مصر العربية، الذي دعا السيد عبد اللطيف الشيخ، رئيس الكونجرس، وأعضاء المجلس، للاحتفال بهذه المناسبة التاريخية.
من الساعة 12:30 ظهرًا حتى الساعة 3:00 عصرًا، انضم الحضور إلى الممثلين الدبلوماسيين والقيادات الثقافية وشركاء المجتمع للاحتفال بالإنجاز المتميز لمصر في الحفاظ على تراثها الغني وعرضه. يُعد المتحف المصري الكبير، أحد أكبر المتاحف الأثرية في العالم، شاهدًا على إسهامات مصر الخالدة في الحضارة الإنسانية.

The Canada-Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) proudly served as a Key Strategic Partner and Sponsor of the 42nd Annual Business Forum and Gala organized by the Canada Arab Business Council (CABC).
The event was held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Toronto, and brought together a distinguished audience of senior business leaders from across Canada and the Arab world, alongside Arab and Canadian Ambassadors, diplomats, and high-level government representatives.
Held under the theme “Partners in Progress: Strengthening Canada–MENA Regional Collaboration for a Sustainable Future,” the Business Forum provided a high-level platform for advancing economic, diplomatic, and strategic cooperation between Canada and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Discussions focused on opportunities in trade, investment, innovation, sustainability, and long-term regional development.
As in previous years, the Forum benefited from the participation of Federal and Provincial Ministers, as well as senior officials involved in trade and investment initiatives across the MENA region. The program featured high-level panels, keynote addresses, and policy discussions aimed at fostering inclusive growth and strengthening Canada–MENA partnerships.
The Gala Dinner, which followed the Forum, offered a prestigious setting for networking, relationship-building, and the recognition of leadership excellence within the Canada–Arab business and diplomatic community.
The success of the 42nd Annual Business Forum and Gala was made possible through the support of many key partners and sponsors, including Emirates, the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Canada, McCarthy Tétrault , the Canada Saudi Business Council, Bombardier, Petro-Techna International, Gowling WLG, Manzil, Toronto Metropolitan University, Niagara College Canada, Humber College, DLA Piper, NVS, and Diamond Decor.
A special highlight of this year’s event was the strong youth engagement and leadership showcased through The Arab Youth Network, operating under the umbrella of CACMR. The involvement of young professionals, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders contributed meaningful perspectives to the discussions and reinforced the importance of youth participation in shaping the future of Canada–MENA relations.
CACMR’s role as a Key Strategic Partner and Sponsor reflected its continued mission to advance meaningful dialogue, cooperation, and impactful engagement between Canada and the MENA region. The collaboration with CABC, alongside the active participation of youth through The Arab Youth Network, contributed to shaping a forward-looking agenda that strengthened economic diplomacy, sustainability, and long-term regional collaboration.

أقيم الحدث يوم الخميس 30 أكتوبر/تشرين الأول 2025 في فندق ريتز كارلتون في تورنتو، وجمع نخبة من كبار قادة الأعمال من كندا والعالم العربي، إلى جانب سفراء ودبلوماسيين وممثلين حكوميين رفيعي المستوى من الدول العربية والكندية.
وقدّم المنتدى، الذي عُقد تحت شعار "شركاء في التقدم: تعزيز التعاون الإقليمي بين كندا ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا من أجل مستقبل مستدام"، منصة رفيعة المستوى للنهوض بالتعاون الاقتصادي والدبلوماسي والاستراتيجي بين كندا ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا. ركزت المناقشات على فرص التجارة والاستثمار والابتكار والاستدامة والتنمية الإقليمية طويلة الأجل.

CACMR Board Celebrates 102nd National Day of the Republic of Türkiye
The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) was deeply honoured to have members of its Board of Directors attend a formal reception celebrating the 102nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye on the evening of Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
The board was graciously welcomed by the hosts, His Excellency Ambassador Can Dizdar and Mrs. Demet Dizdar, at the event held in Ottawa's Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park.
The celebration was a wonderful occasion to honour the rich history and vibrant culture of Türkiye and to reinforce the important diplomatic ties between our nations. The CACMR extends its warmest congratulations to Ambassador Dizdar, the embassy staff, and the entire Turkish community in Canada on this joyous day.
Türkiye is a nation of profound historical significance and a vital actor in the region. The CACMR values its relationship with the Turkish embassy and remains committed to fostering dialogue, understanding, and strong partnerships between Canada, the Arab world, and all nations of the broader MENA region.

CABC & CACMR Attend Reuters NEXT Gulf 2025 in Abu Dhabi
The Canada Arab Business Council (CABC) and the Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) were honoured to have their board members attend the Reuters NEXT Gulf 2025 summit held in Abu Dhabi from October 21–23, 2025.
A Global Platform for Regional and International Dialogue
Reuters NEXT Gulf 2025 convened global leaders, policymakers, and business executives to discuss the pressing geopolitical, economic, and technological challenges shaping the future of the Gulf and beyond. The summit served as a powerful platform for collaboration, exchange, and forward-looking dialogue between nations and industries.

The Board of the Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) was delighted to attend a special Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by Embassy Connections Canada on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the elegant Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa.
The evening was graciously organized by Mr. Jerry Sherman, President of Embassy Connections Canada, and featured a distinguished guest speaker — The Honourable Todd Goudy, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan.
Held in the historic Drawing Room of the Château Laurier, the dinner gathered ambassadors, diplomats, parliamentarians and leaders from Canada’s diverse cultural and business communities. The event celebrated the spirit of Thanksgiving, friendship and mutual understanding — values that resonate deeply with the mission of the Canada Arab Congress.
The Honourable Todd Goudy shared inspiring reflections on his journey from his early years in Saskatchewan to his leadership role as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. His remarks touched on the importance of community service, democratic values and the shared responsibilities of building bridges across regions and cultures.
Mr. Goudy’s story — from his work supporting democratic reform and rebuilding efforts in Albania, to his years as an entrepreneur and public servant — was both moving and motivating. His message underscored the role that compassion, perseverance, and faith play in leadership and public life.
The Board of the Canada Arab Congress expressed its appreciation for the warm invitation extended by Mr. Sherman and his wife and for the gracious hospitality they extended to all guests throughout the evening.

حضر مجلس إدارة الكونجرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا حفل عشاء شكر خاص أقامته مؤسسة "إمباسي كونيكشنز كندا" يوم الثلاثاء 7 أكتوبر 2025، في فندق فيرمونت شاتو لورييه الفاخر في أوتاوا.
قام السيد جيري شيرمان، رئيس "إمباسي كونيكشنز كندا"، بتنظيم الحفل، وتحدث فيه ضيف الشرف، السيد تود غودي، رئيس المجلس التشريعي لساسكاتشوان.
أُقيم حفل العشاء في قاعة الاستقبال التاريخية بقصر لورييه، وجمع سفراء ودبلوماسيين وبرلمانيين وقادة من مختلف الأوساط الثقافية والتجارية في كندا. احتفى الحفل بروح الشكر والصداقة والتفاهم المتبادل، وهي قيم تتوافق تمامًا مع رسالة الكونجرس الكندي العربي.

Middle East Strategy Forum 2025
The Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) participated in the 5th edition of the Middle East Strategy Forum (MESF), co-hosted by the Institute for Peace & Diplomacy and the Amersi Foundation in Ottawa.
As Canada’s most internationally recognized conference on the Middle East, MESF 2025 brought together a globally diverse group of heads of state, ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, policy experts, business leaders, scholars, and journalists to engage in forward-looking dialogue on peace, security, and development in the region.
For the first time, the Forum combined public sessions with private dialogues under the Chatham House Rule, creating a dynamic space for both open visibility and candid high-level discussions on sensitive issues.
This year’s theme, “Reordering the Middle East by Force”, provided a platform to critically examine pressing geopolitical flashpoints—including the Israel–Iran war, the ongoing Gaza crisis, and the post-Assad transition in Syria—within the context of rapidly shifting regional dynamics.
CACMR was proud to contribute to these important conversations, reinforcing its commitment to fostering peace, stability, and constructive engagement between Canada and the MENA region.

Celebrating the 95th Saudi National Day
The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) extends its warmest congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of its 95th National Day — a milestone that stands as a powerful symbol of unity, vision, and national progress.
We are honoured to share that H.E. Amal Yahya Almoalimi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Canada, hosted a distinguished dinner in honour of H.E. Dr. Abdullah Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).
The elegant celebration, held at the Fairmont Château Laurier Ballroom in Ottawa, gathered an exceptional assembly of Ambassadors, Senators, Members of Parliament, senior government officials, and prominent figures from the diplomatic and business communities. Together, guests commemorated nine and a half decades of national unity and visionary leadership since the founding of the Kingdom by His Majesty King Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1932.
The 95th Saudi National Day marks not only the consolidation of a nation but also the remarkable journey of transformation that has positioned the Kingdom as a leader in regional stability, global diplomacy, and humanitarian outreach. The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR), as a proud member partner of the Canada Arab Business Council (CABC), was delighted to join in collaboration with the Dubai International Chamber for an evening of networking, collaboration, and insight with distinguished business leaders and stakeholders in Toronto at the offices of Gowling WLG.
We were honoured by the presence of H.E. Abdulrahman Alneyadi , Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Canada , The Honourable David Piccini , Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, and Thomas Radó , Chief Representative of Dubai Chambers in Toronto, who shared their perspectives and insights at this important gathering.
This reception provided an excellent opportunity to engage with members of the Canadian and Emirati business communities, explore new partnerships, and gain valuable perspectives on Dubai’s evolving economic landscape and its growing ties with Canada.

Canada-Saudi Business Council Reception
The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) was honored to participate in the reception and dinner organized by the Canada-Saudi Business Council in the presence of Her Excellency Amal Al-Moalimi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Canada.
The gathering at the Albany Club in Toronto brought together distinguished leaders and partners to strengthen Canada–Saudi relations and highlight opportunities for collaboration across business, diplomacy, and cultural exchange.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Canada-Saudi Business Council for hosting this meaningful evening, to Her Excellency Amal Al-Moalimi for her continued commitment to building bridges between our nations, and a special thanks to Chair Jeffrey Steiner, the driving force behind this incredible work.

The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) is honoured to have been invited by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E Souriya Otmani to celebrate Throne Day, a momentous occasion marking the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

First Shawarma Fest in Ottawa
The Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) Team recently attended the First Shawarma Fest in Ottawa, celebrating the city’s rich culture and strong local food scene. It was a great opportunity to support small businesses, and enjoy a taste of Ottawa’s diverse community.

The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) is proud to attend and support the launch of the Arab Canadian Women Economic Council (ACWEC) | Lancement du Conseil économique des femmes arabo-canadiennes.
ACWEC is a new organization dedicated to advancing the economic participation, leadership, and success of Arab Canadian women. Through advocacy, education, mentorship, and strong community partnerships, their aim is to foster inclusive economic growth and empower the next generation of leaders.

ASCAME Mediterranean Pavilion Conference
The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations participated in the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) Mediterranean Pavilion Conference in Toronto; fostering dialogue in trade, tourism, sustainability, culture and entrepreneurship.
It was an honour meeting H.E Artemis Malo, Ambassador of Albania; H.E Lassaad Boutara, Ambassador of Tunisia ; Consul general of Türkiye in Toronto Can Yoldaş, and the Federation of Canadian Turkish Associations.

Inbound Tunisia Delegation
In collaboration with the Embassy of Tunisia, we were honoured to host a networking reception that was held on April 7th, in conjunction with the International Textiles Expo, with a prestigious delegation from Tunisia and the presence of Minister Rechie Valdez. The delegation exhibited at the expo, with technical textiles being the main focus to explore unique trade possibilities.
Following their time in Toronto, the group went on to Montreal for important B2B meetings.
Inbound Egypt Delegation
The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) is pleased to participate in an insightful business networking forum with an esteemed Egyptian delegation on trade, energy, and investment co-hosted by the Canada Arab Business Council (CABC), In partnership with the Egyptian Embassy in Ottawa, the Ontario Government, the Egypt Business Council, and the Trade Commissioner Service. The event welcomed over 100 attendees and highlighted new opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.
