The Canadian Arab Congress for Middle East and North African Relations (CACMR): is a non-profit, non-partisan civil organization founded in 2017 by a select group of Canadians who share a common interest in the rich cultures of the Middle East and North Africa region. Through this platform, they aim to serve as an influential bridge to strengthen ties between the diverse communities of the Middle East and North Africa region, particularly the Arab world and the broader Canadian community.
The Congress focuses on ways to enhance understanding of the rich cultural diversity both within and outside Canada. It also seeks to contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage by creating a platform that encourages understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures of the Middle East and North Africa region.
By acting as an effective advocacy voice group and liaison, the Congress aims to address a wide range of pressing issues and shape important decision-making processes by facilitating communication among stakeholders, including the general public, educational institutions, government bodies, parliaments, representative councils, embassies, non-governmental organizations, and other public and private establishments.
The Congress mission is centered around bridging divides and raising awareness among diverse communities, including a broad spectrum of Arab identities, both within and outside the greater Middle East and North Africa region. Emphasis is placed on the fact that harmony among these diverse identities will represent a force that contributes to the advancement and progress of countries on both the eastern and western sides of the world. This is in addition to reinforcing the principles of justice, equality, peace, integration, and empowerment for individuals from diverse backgrounds in Canada.
To achieve this vision, the Congress is committed to providing comprehensive programs and services that can enhance initiative, productivity, stability, and progress across Canada and extend a hand of cooperation to partners across the continents. The organization also aims to create a positive and supportive environment for its members, focusing on the importance of interacting with the common interests and values.
Overall, CACMR aims to enhance dialogue, particularly understanding between Canada and the Arab world, by supporting cooperation in various fields, such as business, trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, relief, and development. This is in addition to presenting a more positive image of the communities and cultures of these countries, thereby reinforcing the values of tolerance, love and cooperation.
