An Urgent Call to End the War in Sudan and Contain the Escalating Humanitarian Catastrophe

The Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) expresses its profound shock at the accelerating humanitarian tragedy in Sudan, where over 15 million people endure the weight of forced displacement, while the ghost of famine and catastrophic food insecurity tightens its grip on the lives of a third of the population. This grim reality is compounded by ongoing reports of systemic and grave violations targeting women and children, alongside the total collapse of the healthcare system and basic infrastructure. Such a crisis not only threatens Sudan’s present but undermines the future of its generations.
Grounded in the values of justice and human rights that form the core of our mission, and while reaffirming our respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, CACMR calls for immediate action to achieve the following:
An immediate and comprehensive ceasefire throughout Sudan.
The opening of safe and unrestricted humanitarian corridors to ensure aid reaches civilians.
The release of arbitrarily detained persons as a trust-building measure and to foster an environment for dialogue.
Refraining from any external interventions or supplies that contribute to fueling or prolonging the conflict.
Launching a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations and the African Union, based on the Sudanese people's aspirations for democratic civilian rule.
Supporting international efforts aimed at accountability for gross violations.
Strengthening Canadian humanitarian support, facilitating family reunification, and providing protection pathways for those affected.
CACMR urges the Canadian government to continue its constructive role in supporting the humanitarian response and to work with international partners to mobilize effective efforts to end the war and return Sudan to the path of peace and stability. Protecting civilians and ending this suffering is an urgent humanitarian and moral responsibility that requires serious and coordinated international action by all.

دعوة عاجلة لوقف الحرب في السودان واحتواء الكارثة الإنسانية المتفاقمة
يعرب الكونغرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا عن عميق صدمته إزاء المأساة الإنسانية المتسارعة في السودان، حيث يرزح أكثر من 15 مليون إنسان تحت وطأة النزوح القسري، بينما يطبق شبح المجاعة وانعدام الأمن الغذائي الكارثي على حياة ثلث السكان الاخرين. وتتضاعف قتامة هذا المشهد مع توالي التقارير عن انتهاكات جسيمة وممنهجة تستهدف النساء والأطفال، والانهيار الشامل للمنظومة الصحية والبنية التحتية؛ مما لا يهدد حاضر السودان فحسب، بل يقوّض مستقبل أجياله بالكامل. واستناداً إلى قيم العدالة وحقوق الإنسان التي يشكل الدفاع عنها جوهر رسالتنا، ومع التأكيد على احترام سيادة الدول ووحدة أراضيها، ينادي الكونغرس بالتحرك الفوري لتحقيق ما يلي:
وقف فوري وشامل لإطلاق النار في جميع أنحاء السودان.
فتح ممرات إنسانية آمنة ودون قيود لضمان وصول المساعدات للمدنيين.
الإفراج عن المحتجزين تعسفياً كبادرة لبناء الثقة وتهيئة المناخ للحوار.
الامتناع عن أي تدخلات أو إمدادات خارجية تسهم في تأجيج الصراع أو إطالة أمده.
توحيد الجهود الدولية لإطلاق عملية سياسية شاملة برعاية الأمم المتحدة والاتحاد الأفريقي، تستند إلى تطلعات الشعب السوداني في حكم مدني ديمقراطي.
دعم الجهود الدولية الرامية إلى المساءلة عن الانتهاكات الجسيمة.
تعزيز الدعم الإنساني الكندي، وتسهيل لمّ شمل الأسر وتوفير مسارات حماية للمتضررين.
ويحثّ الكونغرس الحكومة الكندية على مواصلة دورها البنّاء في دعم الاستجابة الإنسانية، والعمل مع الشركاء الدوليين لحشد جهود فاعلة تضع حدًا للحرب وتعيد السودان إلى مسار السلام والاستقرار. إن حماية المدنيين وإنهاء هذه المعاناة مسؤولية إنسانية وأخلاقية عاجلة تتطلب تحركًا دوليًا جادًا ومنسقًا من قبل الجميع.
