President of Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) Meets the Council of Arab League Ambassadors in Ottawa

The President of the Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR), Mr. Abdullatif Al-Shaikh, met with the Council of Arab League Ambassadors (CALA) in Ottawa on September 9, 2025, to discuss avenues for strengthening cooperation between Canada and Arab countries across key sectors.

The meeting, hosted by CALA, brought together Arab ambassadors and diplomatic representatives to engage in an open dialogue with CACMR on matters of mutual interest. Discussions touched on enhancing economic partnerships, advancing cultural and educational exchanges, and expanding opportunities for trade and investment between Canada and the MENA region.

Both parties also explored ways to highlight the role of Arab communities in Canada, foster stronger people-to-people connections, and support collaborative initiatives that promote peace, development, and innovation.

Mr. Al-Shaikh emphasized CACMR’s commitment to serving as a bridge between Canada and the Arab world, noting:

“The collaboration between CACMR and CALA underscores the importance of building lasting partnerships that benefit both Canada and Arab countries. Together, we can create opportunities that reflect our shared values and aspirations.”

Mr. Al-Shaikh also extended his gratitude to His Excellency Jamal Abdullah Yahya Al-Sallal, Ambassador of Yemen and Dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors, for his gracious invitation and leadership in hosting this important meeting.

The gathering concluded with a shared commitment to work together in several key areas — including cultural diplomacy, economic cooperation, educational partnerships, and innovation-driven initiatives — to build stronger ties between Canada and the Arab world. Both CACMR and CALA expressed their dedication to advancing initiatives that will not only deepen bilateral relations but also contribute to mutual prosperity, cultural understanding, and sustainable development.

التقى رئيس الكونجرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، السيد عبد اللطيف الشيخ، بمجلس سفراء جامعة الدول العربية في أوتاوا بتاريخ 9 سبتمبر 2025، لمناقشة سبل تعزيز التعاون بين كندا والدول العربية في مختلف المجالات الحيوية.

وقد جمع هذا اللقاء، الذي استضافه مجلس السفراء العرب، سفراء ودبلوماسيين عرباً في حوار مفتوح مع الكونجرس الكندي العربي حول القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك. وشملت المناقشات تعزيز الشراكات الاقتصادية، وتطوير التبادلات الثقافية والتعليمية، وتوسيع فرص التجارة والاستثمار بين كندا ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا.

كما بحث الجانبان سبل إبراز دور الجاليات العربية في كندا وتعزيز الروابط بين الشعوب، ودعم المبادرات المشتركة التي تعزز السلام والتنمية والابتكار.

وأكد السيد الشيخ التزام الكونجرس الكندي العربي بالقيام بدور جسر يربط كندا بالعالم العربي، قائلاً:

“إن التعاون بين الكونجرس الكندي العربي ومجلس السفراء العرب يبرز أهمية بناء شراكات مستدامة تعود بالنفع على كندا والدول العربية معاً. وبالعمل سوياً، يمكننا خلق فرص تعكس قيمنا وتطلعاتنا المشتركة.”

كما أعرب السيد الشيخ عن خالص شكره وامتنانه لسعادة السفير جمال عبد الله يحيى السلال، سفير الجمهورية اليمنية وعميد مجلس السفراء العرب، على دعوته الكريمة وقيادته في استضافة هذا اللقاء الهام.

واختُتم الاجتماع بتجديد الالتزام بالعمل معاً في عدد من المجالات الرئيسية، بما في ذلك الدبلوماسية الثقافية، والتعاون الاقتصادي، والشراكات التعليمية، والمبادرات القائمة على الابتكار، من أجل بناء علاقات أوثق بين كندا والعالم العربي. كما أكد كل من الكونجرس الكندي العربي ومجلس السفراء العرب حرصهما على دفع مبادرات من شأنها تعميق العلاقات الثنائية والمساهمة في تحقيق الازدهار المشترك، وتعزيز التفاهم الثقافي، ودعم التنمية المستدامة
